I’m one of the Partners in Sensei Learning and Performance.  I specialise in management training and professional development.  I also consult and write about Business Ethics, Emotional Intelligence/Positive Psychology, Communication Skills, Gender Awareness issues, and Stress Management techniques.

I received my PhD from Queen’s University in 2000 and  am a qualified tutor at QUB within the School of Education.  I work with business people and managers within the CPD Short Courses Programme to increase their workplace effectiveness.  I also design and deliver workshops within the highly successful Open Learning Programme, an attempt by QUB to reach out to the community with accessible, non-academic courses.

I am a former award winning public speaker with Toastmasters International and Business Advisor with Young Enterprise.  I’m also  a Programme Designer with Love For Life, creating and delivering multi-media pressentations for young people around the Personal Development curriculum in schools.

I’m a wannabe author.  In the meantime, I enjoy writing business blog posts, training materials, research articles and short stories.

“I love designing courses that mix conventional training topics with imaginative starting-points and methods of delivery.  So I might teach Persuasion with reference to Star Wars, or Assertiveness with a martial arts theme.  Creative Thinking and Teamwork easily translate into The Apprentice.  Or I can do it the boring way if you wish.  Not.”

My latest project is launching and facilitating Northern Ireland’s first business book club called BookCamp.  Have your FAQs about BookCamp answered here.
